The line is about 26,000 pounds. Under that, you can haul it behind a one-ton for a few dollars a mile. Over it, permits and a lowboy eat up whatever you saved by shopping farther away.

Not here yet: full-size excavators, dozers, graders, and anything bolted to a shop floor. Telehandlers and lifts are next.
